Overview
Hologic® 3Dimensions™ with Affirm Upright Stereo Attachment
This configuration pairs Hologic’s 3Dimensions mammography system with the Affirm upright stereotactic biopsy attachment, giving your facility full 3D screening and diagnostic imaging along with the ability to perform image-guided breast biopsies on the same equipment. Instead of referring biopsy patients to a separate location or running a second piece of equipment, your facility handles screening, diagnosis, and biopsy in one room.
3D imaging built for accuracy
The 3Dimensions system identifies 20 to 65 percent more invasive breast cancers than 2D alone and reduces recalls by up to 40 percent, based on data from over 200 studies. Clarity HD 3D imaging comes standard, delivering high-resolution tomosynthesis that supports confident reads, especially for women with dense breast tissue. A full 3D scan completes in just 3.7 seconds, minimizing the need for repeat images due to patient movement.
One system, two capabilities
The Affirm attachment installs directly onto the 3Dimensions gantry, so the same high-resolution detector used for screening and diagnostic mammography is also used for stereotactic biopsy. A large field of view delivers high-resolution 2D or 3D biopsy guidance, making it easier to target suspicious areas, including lesions and calcifications only visible with tomosynthesis.
Built for efficiency
Automated tube-head positioning and pre-programmed needle device settings cut out manual setup steps for biopsy procedures, while curved paddles and the FAST paddle system provide more even compression for faster, more comfortable mammography exams.
Built for flexibility
An optional lateral arm accessory lets clinicians switch between standard and lateral needle approaches during biopsy without repositioning the patient, useful for harder-to-reach lesions and thinly compressed breasts. Patients can also be biopsied seated or in a decubitus position, reducing physical strain during the procedure.
Built for patient comfort
SmartCurve breast stabilization and the FAST paddle system conform to the breast’s natural contours for more even compression, while reduced compression time and a dose at least 45 percent lower than 2D imaging minimize discomfort during screening and diagnostic exams.
