Overview

GE DEXA Bone Densitometry

Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, or DEXA, remains the clinical gold standard for measuring bone mineral density and diagnosing osteoporosis. GE’s bone densitometry systems are among the most widely deployed in the world, known for their precision, patient throughput, and long service life. A refurbished GE DEXA system from Brown’s Medical Imaging gives your facility access to that proven technology at a fraction of new equipment cost, fully inspected and ready for patient use.

Built for diagnostic accuracy

GE DEXA systems use dual-energy X-ray technology to measure bone mineral density at clinically relevant sites including the spine, hip, and forearm. Results are expressed as T-scores and Z-scores, giving clinicians the data they need to diagnose osteoporosis, assess fracture risk, and monitor treatment response over time.

Built for patient throughput

GE DEXA systems are designed for efficient scanning workflows. Fast acquisition times, straightforward patient positioning, and intuitive operator interfaces mean your technologists can move through patient schedules without unnecessary delays.

Built to last

GE’s DEXA platform has a well-established parts and service ecosystem, making long-term ownership practical and cost-effective. Brown’s Medical Imaging provides full inspection, calibration, and testing on every refurbished system, and our service team supports ongoing maintenance needs after installation.

Phantoms and calibration

Every GE DEXA system requires two phantoms for proper quality assurance: a QA block and a spine phantom. The QA block is used for daily system checks before patient scanning begins, confirming the system is in optimal calibration. The spine phantom is used during preventive maintenance visits to test reproducibility and accuracy, functioning as a test patient to detect potential image issues.

Brown’s Medical Imaging verifies phantom availability with every system we sell and can assist with sourcing the correct replacement phantoms for your specific model when needed.

Why Brown's Medical Imaging

With decades of experience in the refurbished medical imaging market, Brown’s Medical Imaging has the clinical knowledge and service infrastructure to support your DEXA program from purchase through the life of the equipment. Every system we sell is inspected, tested, and backed by our service team.
