Performing inlet and outlet pelvic views is much simpler on a U-arm X-ray system compared to traditional table-based positioning. With the U-arm, patients can remain standing, eliminating the need for complicated tube angulation while lying down.
Have the patient stand facing away from the detector.
Maintain the built-in caudal angle on the U-arm.
Center at the level of the ASIS.
Align the patient’s midline with the detector.
Take the inlet exposure.
Have the patient turn around to face the detector.
Keep the same positioning and ensure the midline is aligned.
Take the outlet exposure.
By keeping patients upright and using the U-arm’s preset angles, technologists can achieve accurate inlet and outlet projections faster and with less patient repositioning.
